Our Journey
How did it begin?
It began with the realization that an understood gospel is a powerful gospel
Twenty-five years among remote tribal groups taught John Cross and his colleagues that when the Bible was presented from creation to Christ, it made profound sense. They understood and believed.
As John traveled around the globe, he realized that many of those he met were much like the tribal people—they too knew nothing about God.
So he wrote a book using the same biblical approach that proved so effective with tribal people—one that could be given away or used to guide people to a clear understanding of the Gospel.
In 1997, within weeks of the release of The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus, requests came from all over the world: “Can we have a German translation? Or how about French? Do you have an audiobook version?”
To handle these requests, GoodSeed was formed.
Our first book, "The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus" is printed and GoodSeed is founded as a ministry.
The first translation is completed in 199?, and new translations are regularly released. We now have translations in over 30 languages.
January 1, 2000 sees our first full time workers for GoodSeed International to handle the growing opportunities.
"All that the Prophets have Spoken" is printed, a book for people from an Islamic worldview.
Our full colour children's book, The Lamb, is first published.
"The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus" on DVD is published, and within a few years a Spanish version is available.
"By This Name" is published in English for people influenced by an Eastern religious worldview.
The first of the leader's guides are printed, helping people teach groups. Other guides are published in following years.
"What are Christmas & Easter All About?," based on "The Lamb" but in Easy English, is printed.
"The Story that Matters," based on "The Lamb" but in Easy English, is printed.
Our first discipleship book, "The Captive and the King's Will" is published. This is a followup on previous evangelism resources.
The "No Ordinary Story" series is published. This series of booklets is written for a secular audience.
How do we operate?
- As a ministry, we give of our resources to help equip others.
- We link with other ministries instead of duplicating their efforts.
- Our staff are partner-supported, as missionaries.
- We work hard to keep our overhead down.
- Staff receive no royalties for creative work.
